A while back I discovered quite by accident that my legs move at 160BPM while running. I promptly made a few mixes for personal consumption tailored to this speed (see Heart and Music at 160 BPM and Running Mix v2). Since this time I have had to stop running due to lower back issues but I have noticed quite a few search engine hits coming from people looking for mixes that are around 160BPM. Therefore over the past week I have put together two new 160BPM mixes. One is quite aggro and one is rather mellow. I remember reaching a trance-like state a mile or two into my runs. I think the mellow mix might be complimentary to this trance-like state while the hard mix might be useful for motivation during the beginning of the run.

Another edit I made last month and performed during the 2008 Gothic Cruise fashion show was Tristania – Crushed Dreams. Tristania is an excellent Norwegian symphonic metal band. Most of their stuff is not club friendly so I edited one of their songs. I took out all the death-metal components and looped the cooler parts of the track. It still isn’t a dancy track but more club friendly than the original. Chad [sic] from chateaugrr.com: this is the track you were asking about:

A little mix for my friend Kate in N.C. I suggested she might like their sound but her exposure was very limited since the LastFM site only had 30 second clips of their songs. So I put this mix together . . . mostly Seabound originals with a few Seabound remixes of other artist’s materials and one cover. Upon listening you may notice some pretty large jumps in BPM – bear with it – when you limit yourself to one artist in a mix it is hard to cover all the bases.

I will be “seabound” next week for the annual Gothic cruise. I will be graciously sharing decks with the talented DJ Evelfaery of Prognosis.
Did another mix influenced by a request for some ethereal, trip-hoppy stuff. It starts off with some more traditional electro-metal and EBM. The ethereal content is definitely female-centric; but isn’t most really good ethereal stuff female-centric? The mix ends with some symphonic prog-metal stuff. As always, the mix is under 80 minutes and can be easily burned to a CD.
